Chiropractic can be a powerful tool in both the treatment of sports injuries and enhancing the performance of an athlete.
Participation in sport is exploding because it is one of the few places we can be physically competitive or just emotionally let off some steam. Unfortunately many amateur and professional athletes are being sidelined due to chronic injuries at a rapidly growing rate. It is quite common to see players performing at a level much less than their best because of these injuries.
Modern coaches and doctors realise that to be competetive in sport, it is not good enough to simply cover the symptoms or hope problems will go away. Competitors are demanding more than just drugs to hide symptoms, which can give temporary support, but may eventually cut short their career.
Sports Chiropractors are becoming more sort after because they look to the heart of the issue; Sports Chiropractors are being utilised more and more in major sporting events such as The Olympics and NFL. Chiropractors by nature focus on all parts of a body, and are interested in ensuring all of those parts are functioning together in coordinated manner which allows the athlete to perform at their absolute peak.
Sports Chiropractic involves many aspects of health care:
- adjustment (manipulation of joints)
- soft tissue techniques (such as muscular releases and stretches)
- rehabilitative exercises and movements re-training
- nutritional advice
Modern Sports Chiropractic requires further post-graduate study on top of the already rigorous demands of becoming a Chiropractor.
Some people who have benefited:
Athletics Champion -Michael Shelley
Winner of City to Surf, Bridge to Brisbane and City-Bay fun runs, Australia's three most famous fun runs. Member of the Australian Commonwealth Games Athletics Team for 2010.
Michael is a regular chiropractic patient, and makes sure he sees Dr Luke Stubbs before every big event to keep performing at his best.
Thank you Luke for all your help in getting me back together after all of my back and hip issues that I endured in 2005. Thanks also for your ongoing treatment which is keeping me in one piece and has helped me to achieve a number of goals in my sporting career." - Michael Shelley
Muay Thai Champion - Frank Giorgi
"My name is Frank Giorgi. I am a professional Muay Thai fighter, and while I have my training team to thank, I now have a secret weapon, that puts me ahead of my competition.

As my career goes forward, in this physically demanding arena, against increasingly powerful opponents, I find it harder and harder to prepare for and repair from, the damaging effects of professional fighting.
Three months ago, I met Luke Stubbs, and what a difference he makes. His knowledge and hands on skills, have helped me become a better prepared fighter.
I’ve had 36 fights for 30 wins, 18 by KO, Can I go further? I can now that I have found Luke. His no nonsense approach to my physical preparation, and his injury repair techniques, will keep getting me back on my feet, fighting and winning.
Whatever sport you play, or whatever the injury, I suggest you see Luke Stubbs.
Thank you Luke!"
Frank Giorgi is the current Australian professional middle-weight Muay Thai champion and recently won a Thai national title at the King's Cup Tournament - one of the 's most famous Muay Thai events in the world.
Australian Boxing Champion - Stephen Ng
"Without Luke Stubbs and Chiropratic I would of been in early retirement!"
"Luke has been treating me for the past 7 years. I benefited from regular treatments when I was competeing as a professional boxer, and now I just see Luke for a tune up when I need it. Working as a boxing coach and fitness trainer, whenever any of my students or boxers have injuries , I immediately recomend that they see Luke. His understanding of body function and sport specific injuries is vast. The biggest thing for me is his thoroughness in examining you and the fact he will give you exercises to help you stop these injuries re-acurring, he is also willing to refer you on if he thinks someone else can help you recover quicker.
You realise straight away his aim is to get you better and not to keep you coming back when it really isn't needed(there are plenty out there that do this!) Wether you are a sports person or everyday person, if you have an injury Luke Stubbs is the man to see!"
