Coomera Wellness Centre - Acupuncture

Over 2000 years ago, Chinese medical writings described acupuncture channels which transport energy "Qi" (pronounced Chi) or life energy around the body. These pathways (meridians) are like electricity in an electrical circuit. When Qi flows freely around the body it will function well, when Qi becomes blocked or is insufficient, organ function is impaired and symptoms of illness will appear.

There are over 200 points mapped out precisely on the body. At these points Tracey Mammen can influence the body’s Qi - thus restoring the regular flow of Qi and bringing the body into balance.

During your consultation, Tracey will take your pulse, examine your tongue and ask you questions about your signs and symptoms, lifestyle, general health and medical history.

Some questions may seem unrelated, but it is important for her to gain as much information as possible to determine the underlying cause of the problem and how to treat it to achieve the best results.

Tracey uses fine, disposable, sterile needles to gently stimulate acupuncture points on the meridians. Sometimes Tracey may warm an acupoint by burning a herb (Mugwort) close to the skin. This process is called moxabustion. The therapeutic properties of the moxa combined with the pleasant warming sensation make this a valuable and enjoyable experience. Most people find this sensation comfortable and are able to relax, breathe more deeply and often fall asleep. Suction cups and massage may also be used to enhance the treatment.

Acupuncture is very effective as a preventative treatment as well as having the ability to treat many conditions.

Including:

  • Arthritis
  • Insomnia
  • Digestive & bowel problems
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Sinus & allergies
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Chronic Illness
  • Fatigue/weak immune system

Tracey has also used auriculotherapy for some time now with excellent results.

This simple effective therapy is a valuable addition to any massage or acupuncture treatment.

Many patients have also experienced success by combining auriculotherapy with hypnosis, particularly in the case of quit smoking.
